Summer Reading launches at our Southwood, Cherry, and James River Clubs on June 13th and we couldn’t be more excited!  Studies show that most kids lose one to two months of their reading achievement over the summer, and kids from at-risk neighborhoods can lose up to three. Our goal at the Boys & Girls Club is not just to keep all our 6 to 9-year olds from regressing, but to provide them with a fun and interactive space to explore reading and writing with their peers. Our theme for this summer is Community Service, and as we read we’ll be engaging in conversations with the inspiring people who help our town flourish by leading community projects and challenging other Clubs to participate in Random Acts of Kindness. It’s looking to be a booktastic ride of a summer!
